Sanctuary
In 1988, Dayton Hyde raised enough money for a down payment on a sanctuary near Hot Springs, SD, and convinced the Bureau of Land Management to send him its unadaptable wild horses. Now it is a home where hundreds of wild horses not only live but flourish. These images show the character of a few of the horses that reside in the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary and a bit of the land that they inhabit. Thanks to Dayton Hyde.
